Kowalenko Consulting Group (KCG) offers Environmental Site and Impact Assessment services for transportation planning, transit expansion and modification, railway station construction, and land use planning and redevelopment. KCG prepares Environmental Assessments and provides technical support in the preparation of planning and land use studies for corridor feasibility and major investment studies, categorical exclusions, and other National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) related investigations. These also encompass air quality and ambient noise studies, economic assessments, ridership surveys, and historical land use analyses for Federal, State, and local units of government. Our environmental planning staff provides research and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database development expertise.

• Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) – CTA Red, Orange, and Yellow Lines for NEPA Level 2 and eventually Level 3 Alternative Corridor Studies. These Alternatives Analyses conducted with the goal of defining the best alternative to improve transportation options for various neighborhoods in Chicago. Research, GIS database development, and technical writing expertise provided.
• Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) – 41st and 43rd Street Pedestrian Bridges, preparation by KCG environmental and research team of a Categorical Exclusion document under FTA and NEPA guidelines and ASTM Standard Preliminary Site Assessment (PESA).
• Metra Commuter Rail – Metra Southeast Service Alternatives Analysis, to improve transportation options for the far south suburbs of Chicago in Cook and Will counties in Illinois and Lake County Indiana. Supporting GIS mapping application developed.
• Metra Commuter Rail – Alternatives Analysis, socio-economic, historical, and environmental resources for the communities along the routes undergoing evaluation. The envisioned line will connect communities in suburban Cook, DuPage and Will counties with O'Hare Airport. GIS tools used for data management and planning exhibits and reports.
• Peoples Energy Light and Coke – Synergis – Peer Review of Permitting for maintenance and repair of existing pipeline situated in a slough in Cook County Forest Preserve District. Tasks include requesting for Jurisdictional Determination, delineating wetlands, recommending best course of action for entry to wetland area and restoration after repair activities.
• U.S. Navy NAVFAC Engineering Command Midwest – Ecological Management Plan for the Lake Michigan Shore habitats at Naval Station Great Lakes including a nesting island for the Common Tern. Issues include control of invasive plant species and erosion control.
